2006-10-23 - 12:33 p.m. Yes Good People! It's time for the Monday update of what happened over the weekend! I think I'll go backwards...just to be different. Yesterday I had to work my first Sunday at the Main Library. I'm happy to report that it was completely uneventful. One of Asheville's BIG craft shows was going on, plus a gun show, plus the library booksale. It cost $5 to park, so I think people stayed away because of it. How nice. I managed to answer some fun reference questions and help people out. Everyone was nice and I wasn't assaulted by stinky people wanting to find dates on the internet. Yay! Saturday was the trip to War of the Wings in Elkin. I was able to go since a wedding I was supposed to play got canned. So instead, I got to go play Middle Ages. Yay! haven't been able to do it in awhile and it was much fun. One of the big highlights of the day was that this guy tried to sit in my lap. Alright, I'll confess...it was a big, 'ol Tom Turkey! He was wandering around the site (which was a farm) and he definitely had major attitude going on. Several of us were sitting on the ground, minding our own business when he strutted up to us. He postured a bit and tried to snuggle up. We finally figured out that he was simply begging for a hand-out! Someone came through and gave him a snack and that kept him occupied for awhile. It was way too amusing though. Friday I took half the day off to just have some time to myself. I made pumpkin scones, I cleaned some in the house, I did a little decorating, etc. It was great and I think I need to have a bit more time like that...just for me. Tonight is our last Monday night band rehearsal before our concert next Sunday. I'll be glad to have this one over with. Although the music has been mostly fun and a bit challenging, it's still going to be good to have it done.
