The weekend was quite nice actually. The weather was completely spectacular and that really helped a lot.

Saturday I did some stuff around the house and then rushed around to get ready for my band's performance that afternoon. However, I got there right on time and we even played pretty well too. Except for the fact that I thought I might pass out from blowing too hard. You see, bagpipes have 4 reeds you have to make work and if the main chanter reed is a bit thick, well, you can kill yourself trying to make them all work. Such is the case with my current reed.

I think it's trying to kill me. It might even be possessed. It's been shaved down to make it thinner, it's even been allowed to have some mold grow on it (yes, gross I know, but it helps) to weaken the cane so it will be easier. Nothing has worked yet and I'm still having strokes and hernias trying to keep it working. sigh. Maybe I will try dragging it behind the car next. Anyway, besides my hyperventilating, the show went well.

Ok, I lied. We were near the end of our set when the bluegrass band that was coming on after us, started warming up behind us--while we were still playing! Now a bagpipe band makes a bit of noise, but their mikes were on! Rude as hell.

Saturday night I was out at "the club" with several friends. We did a bit of dancing and a bit of socializing. Not a lot of people there, but it was still fun. We left around 12:45 since it was kind of, well, dead.

Spent my Sunday afternoon, not sleeping, but taking a drive with Mom up to TN to bask in the glory of autumn. I admit that it was much too lovely of a day to have spent it all indoors.

However, it has all added up to feeling a tad bit zombified today and the grey weather certainly isn't helping.

I think I need more caffeine...
