2006-10-09 - 10:08 a.m. Columbus Day is not a Holiday that is celebrated in the South. Don't know why, but it isn't. Therefore, while I think all the banks and the post office is closed, we are open today. Plus, we'll get a thousand phone calls today asking if we're open or not. sigh. I could really use the day off too. The weekend was a killer. Saturday was spent working at the "Fall Fest" at my church. I did face painting for all the little kiddies. I did refrain from making demon faces on all the little ones, but I did paint quite a few jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, and skulls. heh-heh. I even painted the "Scream" face and an alligator. In fact, I painted a lot. I painted from 11:00-7:00. It was quite the day. I was exhausted...but then I went over to a see a friend who was having a "bad patch" (so to speak) and we drank wine and watched "Dawn of the Dead". I hope I cheered her up a bit. I still got home before 11:00, but... Sunday was the usual with Church and Pipe band practice. We practiced hard since we have a gig next Saturday. It did not help my general state of being, but what are ya going to do? Today isn't going to help much either. I'm about to hit the road for my monthly drive out to the north of the county to deliver books to a few homebound folks. Then I've got band practice tonight. I confess I'm starting to feel like I'm on the never ending merry-go-round again and I'm not liking it. Plus, it's making me cranky and I don't like to be cranky. I wish I could be perky and cheery in the mornings when greeted in the same way by my co-workers. However, I just want to tell them to tone it down and leave me alone and let me just work. sigh. damn. There I go again...turning an entry into a whine-fest. Sorry about that, I know that no one wants to read it. let's see...it's a beautiful day out there today and it will be nice to leave the office and go drive in it. better?
