Let's see where to start today...

oh yeah, the weekend. It went by in a bit of a whirlwind. Saturday, Rhi and I went down to help MOL at WOPP (lots of letters there) It was a nice little event, and I mean little. We only had 2 fighters so not a lot of MOL time was needed. It also got really freakin humidly hot. This caused us to give up and bail around 2:30. I was not crushed that we had to leave since it gave me more time at home than I anticipated getting and that was just fine.

Sunday was busy since I did the church thing then had pipe band practice. Went for a trip to the grocery then finally home. (damn, I know that's exciting)

What's really exciting is what happened to me today. I went to give platelets at the local Red Cross. I've had a few "issues" at times, but today they really did a number on me. I'm sitting here typing this all bandaged up in screaming pink bandages. I've already gotten numerous looks from people that clearly stated WTF? They had needles in both crooks of my elbows and we're just starting to get the machine rolling. Well...I had a bit more pressure than I should have on the intake arm. This has happened before and I ended up with a big ass bruise that looked like hell and lasted a week. They took that needle out, then proceeded to look for a new vein. They chose my hand, which unfortunately, is a bit veiny. She got it in, then as the blood began to flow back in...once more...WAY too much pressure and pain. Basically, they popped through both veins in my left arm and the blood flowed into places other than where it really should go. May I just say, "holy crap". My hand started to develop a really nice lump where the blood was pooling up. I asked if it might explode (yes, I know this is gross, but stop reading if you can't take it) The blood chick said "oh my" which I KNOW can't be good. Anyway, they took out that needle, put my red cells back in through the good needle and sent me on my way. My hand and arm are most likely going to be super black and blue before the day is out.

And of course, I'm going away to DragonCon next week. I had thought about doing the zombie thing as a costume. Now I'll have very real bruises to work with. How nice.

Ah well. C'est la vie, right?

Working until 8:00 tonight, so we'll see how many people ask what the hell happened to me before the day is over.

should be fun.
