2006-07-31 - 5:08 p.m. I think I had too much weekend. I took Friday off to do a few things around the house then meet some friends for the evening. The evenings festivities included going downtown for the annual gigantico street fair and seeing the headlining band, G'ovt Mule. We got there around 4:00, strolled around in the 90 degree heat then decided we were all hungry. We ducked into a local pub and grabbed some fish 'n chips and a few good beers. (the only beer you could buy on the street was bud products and I'm a beer snob). We then walked around some more, looked at all the crap, watched a really good bluegrass band...then it came a thunderstorm. We were on our way back to the car to put some stuff in it we didn't want to carry around, and got soaked. fantastic. Fortunately the stuff didn't get soaked and the rain didn't last long. It stopped in plenty of time for our concert, which was great. The only non-great thing about it were all the rude-ass people. I really don't appreciate being thought invisible, but it really happened. Several people tried their darn best to stand in the exact spot I was standing in. WTF? I really must work on not being invisible. The funny thing is that there really was PLENTY of other space to stand in...mine just must have been the best. We blew out of there about one song before the end because we'd had enough of invisibility and we wanted to beat all the bastards to the roads. Believe me, I didn't want to be on the road at the same time. There was LOTS of beer flowing and everyone all around us was firing up joints and pipes. dang. Got to bed at a semi-decent hour but I didn't sleep all that well. My brother was supposed to be at the house...early. He announced 8:00, so I rolled out of bed around then...and he didn't show for another 2 hours, the bastard. We had thought we would go to downtown again, but it rained all day. So mostly we laid around and watched Star Trek on G4. Not a bad way to spend the day, but I felt unproductive and just plain weird. We finally went for a family cook-out at my Aunt & Uncle's house. I could only stay for a few since I had already made other plans. I said "hi" and "bye" and proceeded on to the Birthday fest I had already promised to go to. I was glad that I had the excuse, because there are members of my family that do not thrill me to be around. I'm guessing we all have a few of those though. The evening was filled with great homemade pizza, good friends, and lots of conversation. Verra nice. I had great plans for a nap Sunday afternoon, but that wasn't to be. My cousin who is visiting from Alabama and his girlfriend came for dinner and stayed till nearly 11:30. Now, I dearly love them, but I had had just about enough socialization for awhile and I just wanted to go to sleep. I plan on sequestering myself at home this evening and daring anyone to talk to me. I just vant to be alooooone.
