2006-07-13 - 10:33 a.m. Last night was Orchestra rehearsal--once again. We're on the home stretch till Sunday night's final concert. Still have dress rehearsal Sat. morning to get through. I was so tired last night driving to rehearsal I thought I might just start crying at any moment. OK, so yes I actually did later on the way home...but I digress. However, once I got into the music things were better. I really do love playing with this group. Too bad it only meets for 6 weeks during the Summer...or maybe that's part of the appeal. Anyway, we're playing some really fun stuff this time including a Star Trek Medley, a Medley of classical pieces from Warner Bros. cartoons, and even a piece that our first trumpet player composed. I even found myself singing it the other day! It's not bad at all, albeit a tad atonal at times. After rehearsal I went out with a big group for a brewski since our Conductor and his wife are leaving for home (Oklahoma) next Wednesday and I won't see them for yet another year. They're super cool people and I dearly love them. I wasn't planning on going, but...I got talked into by the Conductors wife, who plays bassoon also. Oh well, I'll rest when I'm dead, right? There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. Once our concert is over Sunday, I have several days that I can just go home after work...and stay! I realized the other day that I've spent over $300 in gas just this past month with all my extra-curricular activities. THAT really needs to cease, so hopefully I can keep it down a bit next month. We shall see.
