2006-07-03 - 10:32 a.m. The weekend was pretty darn nice. Friday night kicked the whole thing off with a birthday party for a friend. Late-night bowling. And I do mean "late-night", the whole she-bang started at 11:30. We bowled a couple of games and had a really excellent time. I think it's been several years since the last time I had been, but I still managed to bowl a 123 and a 152. The downside is that it's been several years since I last went bowling. I am *still* freakin sore from the evening. My thumb is starting to recover, but...my butt? owie. And why is it that only one cheek hurts? I need to do something to balance it out, but I don't have a clue what. Saturday morning I had to get up awfully early after my late night. Fortunately I didn't have a hangover (since I didn't drink) but it still wasn't pleasant. The 'rents and I went to the big car show they were having across town. Wow. Lots of pretty, shiny vehicles. My Dad is a HUGE car buff and he had a great time! Mom finally gave up and went to sit down in the shade, but Pa and I trudged on through and took in several more rows of cars. I have to admit, I'm a pretty big car geek myself and I had a great time...even if I did get a tad bit of a sunburn. ouch. We checked out of there around noon and headed back home. I had a few hours to kill before the next scheduled assignment, so I did a little housework and did a little napping. Good thing too. I had a pipe band gig that evening and we were to all meet up so we could car pool. When I showed up and no one was there...it was a little unnerving. Finally people started to arrive (big traffic hassles out there) but everyone ended up driving by themselves. No room for me, so I had to drive completely by myself. This did piss me off a bit since it was a lot of gas. arrrgh. We got there and our gig went pretty well. We were playing with the brass group we sometimes play with and considering we NEVER practice together, it came off ok. Not great, mind you, but ok. We'll be playing ourselves to death this next weekend at the Grandfather Mt. Games, so we'll get in plenty of practice. I finally got home around 11:00, had a snack and went to bed. Sunday I was supposed to be meeting the girls to go see "Superman Returns" however one of our group wasn't feeling so hot, so the plans got cancelled. I took the opportunity to crash...for about 4 hours. I did have another phone call later from some other friends who wanted me to go out dancing with them later that night. It was nice of them to ask, but I was just to zoned out from my nap and nothing except a massive explosion was going to remove me from my house. It was lovely. I *am* going to be sociable this evening and go hang out with some other friends. I think we'll probably be rather casual and watch a movie or something. That's good, since I've got to be up and at it tomorrow morning. 4th of July parade, ya know? eeek! have a good one people and be careful with those fireworks!
