2006-06-23 - 12:38 p.m. So I'm up to day two of the vacation...aren't you dying to hear about it? uh-uh, I thought so. We got up a little later on Friday morning, probably since we were over-exuberant on Thursday. Headed off for a big 'ol breakfast (mmm...pancakes) then proceeded onward to the Adventure Mini-Golf. I loves me some mini-golf. By the time we got there it was around 11:00 and already somewhere like 89 degrees in the shade...and there wasn't much shade. It was a very cool course as there was a Mayan temple, an airplane, a shipwreck and even a train to ride up to the start of the course. :) After our rousing, sweating game of golf we decided to seek an indoor, air-conditioned attraction. Lo! What better place than the Elvis Museum? They had lots of Elvis memorabilia including cars, jewelry, clothing and even underwear!!! Where else can you see that, eh? Plus they had a cool gift shop and lots of air. After a late lunch at Mel's Diner (he-he)we went back the room and crashed for awhile. Moving much slower than the previous day (hey, we're old) Headed out later for more mini-golf goodness and some take-out dinner that went back to the room with us. Let me just say that Quizno's new saladas DO NOT look like the ad (big surprise there) We lolled around our room the rest of the night, drank a bottle of wine and that was that. Headed back home earlier than expected, but that was good too. We did make a stop at a very old cemetery on the way home. Established in 1787, most of the markers were simply rocks with no inscription, but a couple were really nifty and one was marked that the fellow had died from being scalped during an Indian attack in 1787. Wow. cool, huh? And that, dear readers, concludes my essay (long, I know) on my recent visitation to Pigeon Forge, TN. yay!
