Good lord! I haven't updated in 5 days? how did that happen? I guess it happened cause I've been so darn busy.

Dang! What a weekend I had! Can you say "Crazy"?

Saturday morning I had a bagpipe job to play for the WNC Methodist Conference at Lake Junaluska, NC. That's the big UMC conference center. Anyhoo, myself and a fellow pipe band member played this gig last year and they asked us back for this year. We play for the Memorial Service for all the Clergy members who have died over the past year. It can be a bit emotional. Unfortunately the whole thing started about 30 min. late and I had plans for the rest of the day. I was a bit of a wreck since I hate for my schedule to be askew. Oh well, it all worked out in the end as I knew it would, but damn. We played, they loved us, they'll mail us a check...hopefully they'll ask us back next year again.

So, after we were done, I raced home so I could have a shower and a sandwich. A bunch of us were on our way to Charlotte to see Nine Inch Nails for the evening. We had a great time driving down! Lots of fun and laughter. I need to have drives like that more often. We got there in plenty of time, so we stopped at Burger King for some food. Good idea, that. Got to the venue and lo! we ran into some SCA buddies right at the gate! small world, I must say. Did I mention that it was hotter than Hades down there? Oh yes, somewhere in the neighborhood of 97 degrees. ouch. We figured out where our seats were and finally settled in to wait for Bauhaus to come one. Holy crap that was awesome! Even in the light of day they put on a great show. Yes, I would have loved to see them in a club, but I was happier than a clam to get to see them at all. When they finished, we headed off to the loo, to get some water and an overpriced T-shirt. yay! C and I made our way back to our seats and waited for Trent and buds. Wow. What a great show! and on top of it all, the oppressive heat had blossomed into huge, severe thunderstorms. We were treated to quite the electrical display while NIN were playing. It was completely surreal. It was so surreal that they eventually stopped the show due to fear of lighting strikes. The powers that be said they would finish up the show after things calmed down a bit...and they did. In the meantime, everyone on the lawn came on down and joined us under the pavillion. wow. The show started up again...and then the rains came. wow. Again, totally surreal. We were all completely drenched and enthralled with the show. (can I say "wow" one more time?)

What an experience. The drive back was a little bit more subdued, since we were all looking like we took a ride in a washing machine. It is no fun to have both your pants and underwear soaking wet while driving two hours home. yuck. I got to bed somewhere around 4 am. dang.

I had to go to pipe band practice that afternoon. ouch.

Not much else going on the past couple of days, and I'm glad for it.
