2006-05-30 - 10:42 a.m.

So the weekend was crazy busy. Let's see if I can keep my update as brief as possible (this may not happen).

Friday night I crashed.

Saturday I did some stuff around the house that needed doing and I had a couple of errands to run. I even washed my car and vaccumed it out! Saturday night was spent going out to eat, then hanging out with friends. It was a lovely evening. We played "Zombies" which is a great game. However, I did end up staying out too late and not getting enough sleep for the next day. ugh.

Sunday was the day of Hell. I had to be at Montreat to play with the pipe band at 9:15 am. We had to wear full-dress uniforms...add to the mix 85 degree heat and having to sit through a dull sermon=not a good time. We did play pretty well even though we tried out several new tunes we hadn't played before. Not bad at all. After we finished the band headed off to Pizza hut for lunch.

I'm so glad we do the lunch thing every year. It's a blessing, since I have to zoom right to my next show, which is the Memorial Day Concert with the Community Band. We play in a little auditorium that opens up to the outside, where it was...85 degrees. Fortunately though, I don't have to be swaddled in wool for that one. yay! We made it through the show just fine. I have to say that even after playing "Armed Forces Salute" for 20 years, I still get a knot in my throat when I see all those vets stand up for their respective anthems. It makes it hard to play sometimes.

After the concert was over, I headed back home where I had a much needed shower. (boy, did I need it) Then I zoomed up the road to a cook-out. I didn't stay long since I thought I might pass out if I stopped moving for an extended period. Got home in time to watch "When We Were Soldiers" on TV. Pretty good movie, but it lasted until 11:30. I have to admit I drifted off a few times...

Monday was spent doing a bit more housework then hauling off to see "X-Men III" with Rhi and her lovely daughter. I enjoyed the flick, but I pity the person who goes to see it and doesn't have a clue about the first two...they'll be completely lost and think the movie sucks.

So, it's back to work today...and I'm kind of glad for it. Tonight is a Quintet rehearsal, hopefully we'll be playing some new stuff.

Have a great day!
