2006-05-12 - 10:26 a.m. Leaving work early today and I'm thrilled. I'm not thrilled that I have too much stuff to do when I get home. Got to get ready for the event AND a certain young lady's graduation event tonight. Like I said yesterday, I'm sure it will all work out fine. I just need to de-stress. So did anyone see the Bird-Flu gloom and doom movie on Tuesday night? I didn't either, but we obviously had several patrons who did. The winner on Wednesday was this rather strange dude who wanted books on the "Spanish Bird-Flu" pandemic in the early 1900's. Well...first of all smarty-pants, it was just "Spanish Influenza" not the bird-flu. I think we may have found him a book about it though. Yay us! After that he proceeded to ask us how many people we thought might die from it and told us point blank that the pandemic of bird flu was to officially start on Thursday. Wow. I'm glad he's got the inside scoop. Maybe he's been listening in on top-secret phone conversations or something. What was scary is that he was dead serious about it. Sometimes the public just scares me to pieces. I wonder what he's doing today? I bet he's hiding out in his basement waiting for the end of the world. I hope he has his stockpile of masks, water, canned food and guns. Ahhh...ignorance is bliss, right? Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely Mom's Day weekend. I'll be taking mine out for food on Sunday night.
