I have some totally random thoughts today...

First of all, this whole new stunt that David Blaine is doing is just fascinating. I adore escape artists and magicians, but this particular show? hmmm... If you don't know, Mr. Blaine is currently immersed in a human-sized fishbowl in NYC. He's already been there a couple of days and he's planning on staying awhile. I think it's until next Monday evening, when he will attempt to escape the bowl. He's also going to hold his breath for nine while minutes while escaping his bowl, which will be padlocked with a big ton of chains. Again, I say "hmmm..." The big question that's been eating at me is this....when he makes his escape from the fishbowl, will his skin slough off from being in there too long?

damn. I'm really going to have to watch that one.

So I'm reading on the inter-web this morning and discovered an article about a new survey of the 18-24 year old generation. It seems they are all dumb-asses. No big surprise there really, but when it comes to Geography they are *serious* dumbasses. A whopping 2/3rds of them can't find Iraq on a map. 75% of them can't find Israel on a map of the Middle East. 30% of them believed that the most heavily fortified border on the planet was between the US and Mexico. Hello??? All these are bad enough as it is, but even after 6 months of Katrina news, 33% of them couldn't even find Louisiana on a map.

Makes me feel that the future is rather dim for the US. Of course, I would love to see how a group of older adults would perform on this survey too. I have a sinking suspicion that it would be quite similar.

Doomed...Doomed, I say.

It's a glorious day outside. Hopefully I'll be able to get a nice walk in at lunchtime. I've been a slacker lately in my walking. Though it's hard to do when it's raining and it's hard when you don't get home until late. sigh. Oh well, I hope to start making it up.
